GUIDELINES FOR THE MILWAUKEE CONSCIENCE BLOG

Hi all,
My name is Donte McFadden, and I like to welcome you all to the Milwaukee Conscience blog. I stepped away for nearly two years to take care of other matters, but I have made a decision to bring back this service to publicize cultural and educational events taking place in Milwaukee and the city’s peripheries.

Weekly events will be posted once a week, and events that are not reoccurring will be posted the day before it takes place. Below are the guidelines:

1) Beginning in mid-April, a blog posting for events on a weekly basis will be posted on Fridays no later than noon. If you would like an event posted, please send it to eventsinmilwaukee@gmail.com by Thursday by 9:00pm. If events are not sent to me before I make my post, they will either be set aside until the following week, or they will not be posted.

2) Please include the following information for each e-mail:
-Name of Event
-Venue where event is held
-Day and Date
-Time of event
-Cost of event (if applicable)
-Contact information

3) I will be sending text e-mails only, meaning that all the information you need to know will be contained in the e-mail.

It also means that e-mails with attachments (i.e. flyers or documents of any kind) will not be sent. The reason I make this guideline is because I want to preserve as many people on the list serve as much as possible, and in the past I have lost people to the list serve because the e-mail message was so filled with memory that it clogged people’s inbox, and, subsequently, they asked to unsubscribe.

While e-mails nowadays are able to hold an infinite amount of information, I still prefer you to send text-only e-mails. I do not want to get into a situation where I have to type out your information manually, which becomes very time-consuming. Whether it’s plain-text or surrounded by graphics, people will read your information the same way.

4) The Milwaukee Conscience blog will not be used to endorse political candidates or to advertise fundraisers for anyone seeking elected office. If an elected official is part of a panel discussion or is invited to moderate an event, or to present information on legislation or issues that affect the community, such e-mails are encouraged.

5) Because I have a very busy schedule, the list serve is likely to be halted for an indefinite amount of time. I will keep you posted if anything like this takes place.

Thank you all for following the blog, and if you like the services, please encourage others to follow it as well.

Best,
Donte McFadden
